GREAT FOR YOUR TASTE BUDS

Regenerative Meat

Our meat has more flavour than conventionally or even standard grass-fed meat due to several key factors related to the stress-free way the animals are raised, the quality of their diet, and the health of the environment in which they graze. Below are a few reasons why our meat has a superior flavour.

More Complex Forage
Our animals graze on a wider variety of plant species compared to conventional or grass-fed systems. Our diverse pastures, enriched by our regenerative practices, include grasses, legumes, herbs, broad leaves and even wildflowers. We have an astonishing 133 species of grass and non-grass plants (herbs, legumes, flowers, and all other broad leaves), compared to the 95 species on our neighbouring conventional farms. This varied diet contributes unique flavours to our meat, as different plants impart different aromatic compounds, resulting in a more complex, rich taste.

Higher Quality Forage
Our regenerative and Ultra High Density Grazing methods greatly improve our soil health, which leads to healthier, more nutrient-dense plants. The better the quality of our forage and the more nutrient-rich each individual plant is, the more our animals develop flavourful and aromatic meat and fats.

Natural Growth
All our animals are raised 100% regeneratively, growth hormones or forced fattening. Conventional methods can produce cattle ready for harvest in just 12 months but this rushed process sacrifices quality, flavour, and the natural life cycle of the animal. Our animals take about three years to mature naturally. This slower, natural pace allows muscles to develop properly and leads to meat with superior flavour, better marbling, and a richer taste. Without artificial interventions, the animals’ diet and environment directly enhance the purity and quality of the meat, delivering a more authentic and wholesome meat that reflects the purity of the environment in which it was raised.

Better Fat
Meat from our regeneratively raised animals has a more balanced fat composition, including higher levels of healthy omega-3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). This not only makes the meat more nutritious but also improves its taste, as fat plays a key role in flavour.

Stress Free Animals.
Our animals thrive in a stress-free environment, where they enjoy the comfort of staying with their mothers as calves, graze on nutrient-dense natural pastures, and are treated with kindness during humane harvesting. This all contributes to our meat’s unmatched natural taste.

Stressed animals commonly found in conventional farming and slaughtering practises can negatively affect meat quality by leading to increased levels of cortisol, which can result in tougher texture, decreased juiciness, and altered flavour. Stressful experiences before slaughter may cause changes in muscle pH, leading to conditions like PSE (pale, soft, exudative) meat or DFD (dark, firm, dry) meat, both of which impact the overall palatability of the meat.

One-Of-A-Kind Abattoir
Our Africa-first, multi-species abattoir is designed to ensure the most humane treatment of our animals. Each animal is kept calm and stress-free, without witnessing the harvesting of others. By processing only a limited number of animals at a time, we are able to naturally mature the carcasses for 10 days, without the use of electrical stimulation, unlike conventional abattoirs. All our processes ensure that our meat remains tender and retains its natural flavour.

Great for our planet

Our regenerative farming practices restore the environment by improving soil structure, increasing organic matter and promoting biodiversity. Our methods further restore nutrient cycles, boost soil fertility, and enhance water infiltration and retention. This results in healthier ecosystems, reduced erosion, and greater carbon sequestration, helping combat climate change and restore the Earth’s balance while supporting wildlife and overall environmental health.

Learn why our UHDG regenerative farming practices are more beneficial for our soil, land, environment, and the Earth, than conventional and standard grass-fed practices.
